A cleaner Cabramatta starts with each of us

Cabra Clean Up Day is a practical community activity led by Cabramatta Business Alliance. Every Saturday morning, a glove, a rubbish bag and a few hours can change how a street feels to the people who walk through it, open a shop there or bring their children there.

We are cleaning Cabramatta, but the message travels further. The bottle left beside a bus stop, the takeaway container in a park or the cigarette butt near a shopfront does not belong to one suburb alone. Each of us can choose to pick it up, put it in the right bin, reduce what we throw away and leave a place better than we found it. That choice matters in Cabramatta, at home, on the way to work and wherever we go next.

What happens on the day

Volunteers meet the CBA team at the Freedom Plaza stage, opposite Commonwealth Bank. After check-in and a safety briefing, the group is divided into supervised teams and assigned a clean-up area. CBA provides the essential clean-up equipment and coordinates responsible disposal at the end of the activity.

Clean-up area

The project boundary covers key streets in and around the Cabramatta CBD: Cabramatta Road, Gladstone Street, Broomfield Street, Railway Parade, Pevensey Street, Sackville Street and St John Road. Teams will be assigned a specific section on the day so that the work is safe, organised and useful.

Who can join

Local residents, students, community groups and business teams are welcome. All volunteers must register before participating. To help keep the group safe and manageable in a busy precinct with regular vehicle movement, participation is currently limited to volunteers aged 18 and over. This allows Event Supervisors to give clear guidance and respond quickly if a safety issue arises.

Please come prepared

Wear sturdy enclosed shoes and sun-smart clothing. Bring a water bottle if you can. Do not handle needles, chemicals, asbestos or any item you are unsure about. Tell an Event Supervisor, who will arrange the right response. Safety comes first.
